about
dORIS MC MEEL
DORIS MC MEEL
How the body works and can heal itself has always interested
me. This led me to enter a career in nursing in 1989. Overall, I found the
western medicine approach to healing unfulfilling because it mostly treats
symptoms unilaterally on physical or mental levels, without recognising
sufficiently the energy and spiritual levels, leaving the cause of some
diseases untreated.
My Reiki healing journey began in spring 2001 with a Reiki
taster session that changed my view from complete Reiki sceptic, to ˜Where
can I learn to do this?
I undertook my
training with Dr. Robert Jefford, previous chairman of the UK Reiki Federation.
I undertook all my training with him from the beginning through to master level
and began my journey on the Eastern Shoden Reiki course. I felt that I truly
began my Reiki way of life. I started doing treatments and teaching students in
my spare time.
In 2005 following the birth of my first son I gave up my
nursing career to become a full-time mother and focus on changing from healing
and teaching in my spare time to making it my life. My second son was born in
2007 and I feel I have succeeded in doing this soon after he was born.
Areas of Expertise: Reiki Master Teacher member of the UK
Reiki Federation, Faith Healing, Energy Medicine.
Reiki
is universal, transcendental, all embracing, all reaching, and constitutes the
whole. It is a path where one progressively encounters the true self with
wonder and joy. The estranged self-hidden with its inexhaustible potential lies
undiscovered by many people who die without even knowing it exists. (Extract
from Dr. Robert Jefford’s manual)
The
practice of Reiki is believed to have come from ancient texts rediscovered and
developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan early in the 20th century. The Japanese
word Reiki translates broadly to mean 'Universal Energy'.
This
energy is known as ‘ki’ in Japan, ‘chi’ in China, and ‘prana’ in India. Eastern
medicine and therapists have always been educated in and worked with this
energy that flows through all living things and is vital to the well-being of
life. Reiki is an effective and simple way of healing this energy to stimulate
the body’s own natural healing potential. The purpose of Reiki is to heal the
body, mind and spirit on all energy levels.
Clients can experience any of the following during a treatment:
warmth, tingling sensations, a deep state of relaxation or meditation, or
simply a restful state. Following a Reiki treatment clients often
physiologically attain many of the benefits equivalent to three or four hours
sleep. These clinical observations make Reiki an effective and natural stress
reliever.

Discover Reiki
Reiki
treatments are available weekday evenings from my home. During your first
appointment you will be asked to complete an assessment questionnaire. The
details in this assessment form will be reviewed before and after each
treatment to monitor your progress. All information is treated in strictest
confidence.
TREATMENT
YOUR REIKI
For
your Reiki treatment you can choose to sit on a comfortable chair or lie on a
treatment table fully clothed. Reiki is a ‘non-touch’ technique. I hold my
hands a few inches away from your body for a few minutes in different hand
positions from your head to your feet.
Each
person responds differently to a Reiki treatment. This is a reflection of how
the individual reacts to Reiki, rather than the quality of the treatment. Reiki
heals on all energy levels. Clients can experience any of the following during
a treatment: warmth, tingling sensations, a deep state of relaxation or
meditation, or simply a restful state. Following a Reiki treatment clients
often physiologically attain many of the benefits equivalent to three or four
hours sleep. These clinical observations make Reiki an effective and natural
